We want to increase the throughput per machine with the construction of a new building for housing the machines
We received a request from a manufacturer of raw materials for chemical products, M Corporation, to increase the throughput per machine with the construction of a new building for housing the machines. So we suggested the top-drive bottom-discharge centrifuge, Mark3 β, which boasts the maximum throughput of our centrifuges.
We were told that M’s production efficiency and output had both increased as a result of using our centrifuges.
Usually, the maximum throughput for the biggest Mark III, of 60″ x 40″, is 940 liters, but after discussions between our engineering department and the customer, we came up with a design with an increased capacity of 1027 liters.
In addition, to reduce the processing time, we proposed a specification with a single motion scraper device with a large scraper blade and a rotating action only, not the usual double motion (vertical and rotating action), and the scraper air blower that scrapes off crystals using high-pressure air.
Key Points
Special basket design
We were able to increase the throughput by designing a special basket of a size different to the existing size.
Single motion scraper device
The crystals are scraped off with just a single action of rotation by installing a large scraping device matching the height of the basket, in place of a scraping device with the usual double action of rotation and elevation. Consequently, scraping time was reduced.
Scraper air blower
Air is blown from the scraper device to accelerate the detachment of crystals in addition to the usual scraping effect. This achieves a further reduction in the scraping time.
